Assist physicians with medical procedures in office. Responsible for phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance. This role requires meticulous attention to detail in performing quality control procedures, laboratory blood work, and blood draws, adhering strictly to laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing. The Medical Assistant will perform technical laboratory procedures accurately and precisely, meeting all regulatory standards. Responsibilities include preparing blood or bone marrow slides, managing outside lab send-outs, and maintaining essential logs and records. The position also involves patient interaction, including obtaining vital signs, documenting patient information in the EMR system, and preparing patients for physician examinations. Assisting physicians with various medical procedures such as bone marrows, fine needle aspirations, paracentesis, and pelvic exams is a key function. Additionally, the role includes scheduling outside testing, referrals, and hospital admissions, as well as maintaining adequate supply inventory and initiating troubleshooting for instrument malfunctions. Compliance with all state and federal laws, regulations, and company policies, including patient confidentiality and safety guidelines, is paramount. The Medical Assistant will also assist in training new employees and may be required to work at any AON location and overtime as needed.
