About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. This role is for the Adult Primary Care - Bluffton location. The Certified Medical Assistant interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical record. They also prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients. Basic computer skills are required, and annual competencies must be maintained. The position requires the ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures and the ability to make accurate physical observations of patients. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting program.
  • Must be certified through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures.
  • Ability to make accurate physical observation of patients.
  • Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of patient care experience preferred.
