Works under general supervision of physician and/or APP to provide clinical support to physicians and APPs in delivery of patient clinical care and administrative support. The role involves opening the clinic, maintaining patient flow, answering calls, processing prescriptions, preparing patients for exams, stocking supplies, administering injections, drawing blood, performing catheterization, maintaining logs for OSHA and CLIA, ordering supplies, processing prior authorizations and other medical necessity documents, and scheduling surgeries. The Medical Assistant is expected to maintain a basic understanding of urology-related terminology, medications, procedures, and instruments, and to utilize good communication and interpersonal skills with patients, coworkers, and providers.
