About The Position

Urology Clinics of North Texas is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide clinical support to physicians and APPs in delivering patient care and administrative support. The role involves managing clinic operations, patient flow, scheduling, and direct patient care tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of urology, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor; appropriate work attire is scrubs at all times.
  • Ability to multi-task and pay very close attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of medical office methods and procedures.
  • Ability to perform specimen collection, vital signs, urinalysis, catheterization, and instrument sterilization.
  • Basic computer skills and an understanding of the practice's EMR/PM and Document Management Systems.
  • Maintain MA certification and required CEUs.
  • Active Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Opening of the clinic, including preparing workstations, testing equipment, and stocking exam rooms.
  • Surgery scheduling and maintaining efficient patient flow for the provider.
  • Answering incoming calls, discussing acute symptoms with the physician when necessary, and returning patient calls.
  • Processing and documenting all prescriptions and outside communications in the patient's EHR.
  • Performing tests and tasks assigned by the Provider, and preparing and assisting the Provider with exams and procedures.
  • Cleaning, preparing, and stocking exam rooms, lab area, and restroom daily.
  • Preparing specimens for the lab and adhering to the lab insurance matrix.
  • Administering injections and drawing blood using aseptic technique.
  • Cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing instruments daily.
  • Performing catheterization using sterile technique.
  • Documenting all necessary MA workflow in the appropriate EHR templates.
  • Completing reports for missing results and all logs required by OSHA (exam room cleaning, freezer temp, eye wash station, fridge temp).
  • Managing and maintaining CLIA and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintaining stock of all medical supplies and placing orders or notifying the Administrator of needs.
  • Completing and processing all prior authorizations for medications, Title 19s, and Letters of Medical Necessity.
  • Performing chart take down, placing PHI and reports in appropriate scan bins, and verifying chart notes are complete before shredding dictation notes.
  • Ensuring exam rooms and providers' files are stocked weekly or daily as needed.
  • Performing weekly spore testing for the autoclave.
  • Maintaining cystoscope pressure testing/cleaning/sterilization station daily with proper documentation.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the supply and sample cabinet.
  • Notifying the call center of physician schedule changes.
  • Completing all patient phone calls by the end of each day.
  • Scheduling outpatient or inpatient surgeries or services as assigned.
  • Performing any tasks, duties, or special projects as assigned by the Administrator.
