About The Position

Texas Oncology is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant Sr to join their team at the Grandview, El Paso, Tx location. This role supports physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment, aiming to promote efficient patient flow and care during exams and procedures. The position also involves clinic support tasks such as clerical duties, answering phones, and managing physician schedules, while adhering to the US Oncology Compliance Program. Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country, dedicated to making high-quality cancer care accessible in local communities.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
  • 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant (for Level 1).
  • Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire (for Level 1).
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred (for Level 1).
  • Some state regulations may require specific certifications in order to work as a Medical Assistant.
  • Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant (for Level 2).
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred (for Level 2).
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred (for Level 2).
  • Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting (for Sr Level).
  • Current CPR certification required (for Sr Level).

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants

  • Phlebotomy experience

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
  • Informs physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or physician.
  • May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision.
