City: El Paso State: Texas Job Title: Laboratory Technician - El Paso, TX SUMMARY: Oil and Petroleum Laboratory Technicians perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials for such purposes as quality control, process control, or product development by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Follow all company safety procedures and guidelines. Operate laboratory equipment and instruments such as viscometer, densitometer, spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph, colorimeter, and other equipment. Test samples related to oil and gas per industry or company methods. Examples of sample types may include gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, fuel oil and petrochemicals. Instruments utilized for testing could include gas chromatograph, titrators, densitometers, ICP, AA, and other instruments. Follow all company quality procedures. Analyze SQC samples and compare the results to known limits. Prepare chemical solutions. Recognize and investigate suspect test results. Participating as a team player, understanding the success of the team is critical. Instrument calibration, as required. Instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, as required. May work a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays and must be available to work on an on-call basis. Some overtime may be required. Other duties assigned by management.
