About The Position

This position works under the general supervision of clinic physicians, supported by the clinic nursing supervisor, clinic manager, clinic mid-levels, and RN, in a controlled outpatient care area. The Certified Medical Assistant performs a variety of duties to provide basic administrative, clerical, and technical supportive services and procedures. The role also involves cross-training for front office functions and filling in as needed. The position requires maintaining confidentiality of staff, patient, and administrative information, and ensuring lab and treatment rooms are kept in an orderly manner. The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for performing waived lab tests, internal quality controls, and preparing samples for shipment. They also prepare patients for examinations, collect baseline information, record it in the patient chart, and take vital signs, height, and weight measurements. The role also includes performing other duties and innovations as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current CPR Certification.
  • National Medical Assistant certification required.
  • Basic medical terminology preferred.
  • Clinic-medical office experience preferred.
  • High School graduate or GED preferred.
  • Must be a National Certified Medical Assistant and must maintain certificate and complete all required CEUs.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists practitioner and RN with basic administrative, clerical and technical supportive services and procedures under the supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist or his designee.
  • Cross-trains for front office functions and fills in as needed.
  • Maintains lab and treatment rooms in an orderly manner.
  • Performs waived lab tests and lab internal QCs. Prepares samples for shipment to hospital lab.
  • Prepares patient for provider exam and collects all baseline information and records in the patient chart.
  • Takes patient vital signs, height and weight measurements. Records results in patient chart.
  • Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.
  • Maintains confidentiality of staff, patient and administrative information in the Clinic, hospital and community setting.
  • Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies.
  • Observes all clinic protocols and procedures as written.
