In accordance with the Medical Board of California, works under general supervision of the clinic physicians supported by the clinic nursing supervisor, clinic manager, clinic mid-levels and RN, in a controlled outpatient care area and performs a variety of duties. This position is represented by RCHEA. The Certified Medical Assistant (Outpatient) serves patients across all age groups, including Infant, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric. They demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients served. This includes assessing data reflective of the patients' status and interpreting it relative to their age-specific needs. The role involves assisting practitioners and RNs with basic administrative, clerical, and technical supportive services and procedures under the supervision of a licensed physician or their designee. The position also includes cross-training for front office functions and filling in as needed. Maintaining competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health, The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory agencies is crucial. The role requires maintaining confidentiality of staff, patient, and administrative information. Additionally, the Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for maintaining lab and treatment rooms, performing waived lab tests and internal QCs, preparing samples for shipment, preparing patients for exams, collecting baseline information, recording data, and taking vital signs, height, and weight measurements. The employee must also be willing to perform other duties as assigned.
