About The Position

Responsible for working collaboratively with physicians and other caregivers to deliver appropriate treatment and medical interventions in an ambulatory office setting. This full-time, day-shift position is based at the Professional Office Building in Carbondale, Illinois.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS certification; BLS certification from the American Heart Association is preferred.
• Medical assisting certification is required.
• Ability to perform manual blood pressure measurement.
• One year of clinical office experience preferred.
• One year of customer service experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Medical assisting certification from NCCT, AAMA, NHA, or NAHP.
• One year of clinical office experience.
• One year of customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Use critical thinking to understand and address patient care needs based on available facts and information.
• Communicate with the care team, outside agencies, patients, and families through written and verbal communication, observation, and empathy.
• Assist with onboarding and continuing education for new nursing staff and the department nursing team.
• Help patients and families navigate care by explaining treatment plans, options, and resources.
• Complete competency requirements for accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and for patient care within the scope of the clinical role and applicable policy.
• Room patients and document required, updated clinical information in the electronic medical record according to policy and procedures.
• Follow office procedures to monitor medication and supply expiration dates and storage conditions.
