About The Position

This role is for a Certified Medical Assistant in a Neurology department within the Ascension Medical Group clinic in Kokomo, IN. The position is full-time, with day shifts Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 5 pm, and Fridays from 8 am to 12 pm. The Medical Assistant will support providers and registered nurses by performing clinical duties, including assisting with treatments, interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and managing basic clerical tasks. Responsibilities also include materials management, maintaining a clean environment, documenting provider encounters, transcribing patient orders, and managing laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Medical Assistant obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Certified or Registered both accepted.
  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • At least one years' experience in a medical office setting.
  • Proficient in vital signs.
  • Proficient in computer technology.
  • Attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Neurology terminology or experience in this area a huge plus.
  • Able to learn quickly and pick up terminology as it pertains to this specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse.
  • Perform select clinical duties.
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' charts.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
  • Perform basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
  • May document the provider's encounter with patients.
  • List all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider.
  • Transcribe patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.
