About The Position

As a cornerstone of the clinic, the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) partners with physicians to ensure high-quality patient care and operational efficiency. By accurately gathering vital signs, reconciling medications, and keeping the daily schedule on track, the CMA allows providers to focus entirely on patient health.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required).
  • CMA: Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • RMA: Registered Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • RMA: Registered Medical Assistant - American Allied Health (AAH)
  • RMA: Registered Medical Assistant - American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
  • CCMA: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • NRCMA: Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • NCCT: Certified Medical Assistant - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • BLS: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire - American Heart Association (AHA).

Nice To Haves

  • Patient care (or relevant clinical) experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect pertinent information including vitals, chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, and perform medication reconciliation upon arrival.
  • Administer medications and assist with prescription refills per department protocols. Call medications into pharmacies, notify patients, and document actions in the EMR.
  • Maintain department-specific competencies for POC testing, equipment handling, and specialty training.
  • Prepare charts in advance of visits to ensure all previously ordered testing is completed.
  • Obtain prior authorizations through insurance companies and coordinate referrals.
  • Communicate with patients, families, pharmacies, and other healthcare facilities as directed.
  • Provide patients with written instructions for procedures, medications, or follow-up at the direction of the provider.
  • Retrieve and provide condition-specific education from approved websites, internal resources, or printed materials.
  • Stock supplies and clean rooms per current infection control/COVID protocols.
