About The Position

This role involves assisting with direct patient care procedures, including obtaining patient histories, performing metabolic profiles, and other assigned tasks. The Certified Medical Assistant will obtain vital signs, height, and weight for inpatient clients, provide frequent rounding, and report client needs to the LPN/RN. Responsibilities include performing UDS/HCG testing according to CLIA standards, maintaining accurate inventory of medicines and medical supplies, and supervising or administering client medications under the direction of a medical provider. The role also involves scheduling and monitoring medication clinic appointments, authorizing drug refills, scheduling outside medical appointments, obtaining necessary medical information, and maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory standards. This position is full-time.

Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • Certified as CMA or CMMA
  • One year working as a Medical Assistant in a licensed healthcare facility.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks.
  • Assists in obtaining patient histories and performs metabolic profiles.
  • Obtains vital signs, height, and weight for clients on the inpatient unit as directed by the LPN/RN.
  • Provides frequent rounding on clients and addresses/reports client needs to LPN/RN as appropriate.
  • Performs UDS/HCG testing adhering to CLIA standards.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of medicines and medical supplies.
  • Supervises self-administered client medication or performs medication administration depending on specific clinical program protocols, under direct orders from the medical provider.
  • Schedules and monitors medication clinic appointments with medical providers in conjunction with site business staff.
  • Authorizes drug refills as ordered by the medical provider and telephones/faxes prescriptions to the pharmacy.
  • Schedules outside medical appointments for clients as ordered by the medical provider.
  • Obtains necessary medical information as requested by the medical provider.
  • Maintains current and accurate documentation.
  • Maintains compliance with all regulatory and licensure standards.
