About The Position

Diagnostic Imaging at Meritus Health depends on seamless coordination, compassionate patient support, and accurate clinical preparation. As a Certified Medical Assistant in Diagnostic Imaging Services, you will play a key role in supporting technologists, radiologists, and clinical teams by ensuring patients are prepared, informed, and ready for their imaging procedures. This role blends administrative efficiency with hands‑on clinical care, helping maintain patient flow across modalities such as MRI, CT, Ultrasound, X‑ray, and Mammography. You’ll assist with patient intake, exam readiness, clinical documentation, and follow‑up coordination while contributing to a safe, organized, and patient‑centered environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certificate or Associate Degree from an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Certified Medical Assistant (e.g., NCCT, AAMA, or equivalent) required
  • Current BLS (CPR) certification required
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to support multiple imaging modalities
  • Comfort using electronic health record (EHR) systems and imaging‑related workflows
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and patient‑focused in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
  • Understanding of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and collaborate effectively with technologists, radiologists, and clinical staff
  • Compassion, attention to detail, and commitment to high‑quality patient care

Nice To Haves

  • Prior MA experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred
  • Experience supporting imaging, specialty care, or procedural environments is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, obtain medical histories, verify orders, and document vital signs as needed for imaging preparation
  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures by reviewing instructions, confirming safety screening requirements, and ensuring exam readiness
  • Assist technologists with patient positioning support, room turnover, and workflow coordination
  • Perform clinical tasks such as injections (if permitted by certification and policy), specimen collection, and point‑of‑care testing
  • Manage scheduling, follow‑up appointments, and coordination of additional imaging or specialty referrals
  • Complete administrative duties including answering phones, processing paperwork, and maintaining accurate medical records
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sterile exam rooms and equipment
  • Provide patient education, reinforce imaging preparation instructions, and support follow‑up communication
  • Respond appropriately to urgent or emergency situations within the imaging department
  • Support departmental efficiency by assisting with patient flow, communication, and operational needs
