The Certified Medical Assistant/CMA will deliver care to patients utilizing the Certified Medical Assistant Process. This role performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures, greets and prepares patients for the health care provider, and obtains and records vital signs. The CMA will perform routine tests such as EKGs, schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow up to ensure completion, and document patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider. Communication with patients regarding test results and plan of care will be done by phone or mail as directed by the physician. The CMA will keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean, and orderly, escalate non-routine issues to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s), and ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required. This role also provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights, and performs other duties as assigned.
