About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant/CMA position at Heart & Vascular Specialists is a full-time role with day shifts. The successful candidate will deliver care to patients utilizing Certified Medical Assistant processes, perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures, and obtain and record vital signs. This role involves documenting patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider. Communication with patients regarding test results and care plans, escalating non-routine issues, and ensuring safety checklists/quality controls are completed are also key responsibilities. The position emphasizes patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights. The work location is 8440 Walnut Hill Lane, Suite 400, Dallas, TX 75231, with work hours of 40 hours weekly, Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. There is a 25% travel requirement to the Rockwall location 1-2 times per week, with mileage reimbursement provided. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • CMA - Current Medical Assistant Certification (required)
  • Basic computer skills using medical management application systems
  • Effectively communicate with staff and patients
  • Thorough knowledge of the meaning and use of medical terminology and abbreviations
  • Demonstrates sound judgement in emergency situations
  • Takes appropriate action in urgent circumstances
  • Maintains a positive, customer-focused attitude toward staff and patients
  • Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant experience (strongly preferred)
  • Bilingual in English / Spanish (preferred)
  • BCLS (strongly preferred)
  • Ability to perform EKGs

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Certified Medical Assistant Process
  • Performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  • Obtains and records vital signs including, but not limited to: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
  • Documents patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.
  • Communicates with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by physician.
  • Escalates non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).
  • Ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
  • Provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.
