About The Position

CAN Community Health is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) who is passionate about serving the needs of individuals impacted by HIV, Hepatitis C, STI's, and other infectious diseases. The role involves assisting the front desk, performing phlebotomy, and contributing to a professional team that upholds the company's mission and values. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA) is required or ability to achieve certification within 6 months of hire.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a Level I and Level II Background check as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs medical intake procedures including vital signs and history.
  • Performs complete patient evaluation and assessment.
  • Records and reports on symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in patient’s conditions.
  • Performs immunizations as directed by the physician.
  • Practice safe phlebotomy skills using standard precautions.
  • Greet and assist patients with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Accurately collect, process and post patient payments, including co-pays, deductibles and outstanding balance.
  • Verify and updated patient insurance information and eligibility during check-in.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, managing any necessary follow-up for missing documentation.
  • Perform venipuncture and fingerstick on all patients as ordered.
  • Identify patients using two unique identifiers and verify test orders prior to specimen collection.
  • Prepare collection sites using aseptic technique and select appropriate collection equipment.
  • Label specimens accurately at the point of collection.
  • Process, centrifuge, and prepare specimens for transport or analysis according to laboratory protocols.
