The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will deliver care to patients utilizing the Certified Medical Assistant process. This role performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures, greets and prepares patients for the health care provider, and obtains and records vital signs. The CMA will administer ordered medications and/or vaccines, may be required to draw and collect blood samples, perform routine tests such as EKG, and schedule patients for diagnostic testing. Documentation of patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record is essential. The CMA will communicate with patients regarding test results and plan of care, prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments, and maintain equipment. This role also involves keeping patient exam rooms stocked, clean, and orderly, escalating non-routine issues, and ensuring safety checklists/quality controls are completed. The CMA will provide for patient safety and protect patient privacy rights. This position may also involve front office duties and other tasks as assigned.
