About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant/CMA will deliver care to patients utilizing the Certified Medical Assistant Process. This role performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures. The CMA will obtain and record vital signs, document patient plans of care, and communicate with patients regarding test results and plans of care as directed by the physician. This position escalates non-routine issues to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s) and ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required. The CMA also provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • CMA - Current Medical Assistant Certification (required)
  • Successful completion of THPG Clinical Training (CT) educational program with demonstrated competency in required skills-within 90 days of job entry (required)
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support Exception Quarterly 90 Days Upon Hire (required)
  • Ability to perform EKGs
  • Basic computer skills using medical management application systems
  • Effectively communicate with staff and patients
  • Thorough knowledge of the meaning and use of medical terminology and abbreviations
  • Demonstrates sound judgement in emergency situations
  • Takes appropriate action in urgent circumstances
  • Maintains a positive, customer-focused attitude toward staff and patients
  • Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant experience (strongly preferred)
  • Bilingual in English / Spanish (preferred)
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Certified Medical Assistant Process
  • Performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  • Obtains and records vital signs including, but not limited to: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
  • Documents patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.
  • Communicates with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by physician.
  • Escalates non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).
  • Ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
  • Provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.
