About The Position

The Outpatient Clinical Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is responsible for providing the highest quality of customer service for patients and others by performing all duties in a professional and engaging manner. Provides quality care to patients, under the direction of licensed practitioners, promotes efficient operation of the clinic, and provides assistance to physicians and support staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program required
  • Active Medical Assistant certification required
  • Current Medication Aid Registry listing
  • Current Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and health care team members within the organization and other outside agencies.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of service and response.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions and take direction.
  • Comply with all departmental and organizational policies and procedures in addition to regulatory requirements and participate in corporate/department safety and quality activities
  • Ability to effectively read, write, and perform needed calculations.
  • Above average social skills and the ability to interact with all age groups.
  • Ability to reason and analyze when circumstance warrant.
  • Possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Utilize effective, appropriate, timely communication skills.
  • All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the WCHS core mission, vision and values; respectful of tribal beliefs, culture and traditions.
  • Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide direct patient care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and performs clinical tasks under the direction of a licensed practitioner.
  • Prepares exam rooms and equipment to facilitate treatment and examination of patients by setting up instruments, equipment and stocking supplies.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in administration of immunization and other medications under the direction of a licensed practitioner.
  • Promptly notify Provider of patient condition when necessary.
  • At the direction of the provider, provides patient and family education to ensure adequate knowledge, awareness, and recommend appropriate community resources as needed.
  • Comply with all departmental and organizational policies and procedures in addition to regulatory requirements and participate in corporate/department safety and quality activities.
  • Documents accurately and completely in the patient record.
  • Demonstrates respect for patients’ rights, privacy, and serve as a patient advocate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
