About The Position

This position is funded by a grant for a duration of time as defined by the grantor. Works under the direct supervision of an assigned supervisor to perform various technical, phlebotomy, and specimen accessioning duties as they relate to laboratory medicine. Pay Grade: 42 Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience as a medical assistant
  • Certified as a medical assistant from a nationally accredited program.
  • Must have a valid Tennessee driver's license or secure one upon the date of employment.
  • Must have daily access to an operable automobile and meet County requirements for automobile insurance upon the date of employment.
  • Must be able to travel regularly to off-site locations, including homes, community events, schools, medical offices, and grantor meetings.
  • Must maintain all required licenses, certifications, and training credentials throughout the duration of employment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and County software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Collects samples, obtains procedure history, and prepares patients for examination.
  • Performs duties of specimen management and processing.
  • Registers clients in the clinic database.
  • Completes all relevant paperwork and logs, submits in a timely manner, and assures accuracy.
  • Delivers specimens to the laboratory.
  • Conducts screenings, assessments, and required home visits to identify, validate, and address client’s needs.
  • Maintains supplies and assists with ordering of supplies as needed.
  • Assures that proper equipment cleaning and sterilization occur as required to maintain a clean, organized, safe work environment.
  • Provides confidentiality with all records and conversations regarding medical information.
  • Performs other related duties as required or directed.
