About The Position

NaphCare is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join their team in Winslow, AZ, working within the Arizona Department of Corrections. This role involves providing care to incarcerated individuals, working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals in a secure environment. The position offers a variety of duties, including assisting physicians, taking patient histories and vital signs, and supporting administrative tasks. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of a diverse patient population with complex medical needs. New graduates are encouraged to apply as training in correctional healthcare will be provided.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Certificate
Current Certification as Certified Medical Assistant in AZ
Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA required)
Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

Performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history
Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
Administering medication (under the direction of a physician)
Providing basic wound care
Performing basic laboratory tests
Assisting providers during patient examinations and procedures
Providing basic patient education and instructions
Scheduling and coordinating patient appointments
Maintaining inventory of medical and office supplies
Answering phones, emails and other forms of communications
