About The Position

Essentia Health is offering a Medical Assistant Apprentice program at their family practice location in Bismarck, ND. This program will cover the cost of education and certification as a Medical Assistant through a partnering organization. Upon completion of the program, there is a 2-year work commitment. The program is cohort-based, starting in July 2026, and provides structured training, hands-on experience, coaching, and mentorship. It is designed for motivated individuals passionate about healthcare who want to build skills in a clinical setting and grow into a successful Certified Medical Assistant.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified, or able to obtain within 3 months.
Enrollment in the MedCerts Program, with a 14-week completion goal.
Must be registered as a Medication Assistant III through the North Dakota Board of Nursing within 60 days of hire/transfer.
Legal right to work in the United States.
Pass post-offer screenings including health screening and immunization review, verification of applicable licensure, certifications, education, and experience, and background checks (criminal, urine drug screen, and MVR where required).

Responsibilities

Work in Essentia Health's family practice at the Bismarck Gateway location.
Complete a qualifying Medical Assistant program with a partnering organization.

Receive ongoing coaching and mentorship throughout the program.
Support patients and providers.
Adhere to a 2-year work commitment upon course completion.
