About The Position

The Administrative Medical Assistant will be responsible for the coordination of direct patient care activities and providing clinical and administrative support to providers. This role involves managing patient flow, ensuring accurate and up-to-date medical records, and performing various clinical tasks as directed by a Physician/Provider. The position also requires adherence to state and federal regulatory requirements, including HIPAA/OSHA compliance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
  • Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information
  • Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate to be received within 90 days
  • Prior working experience as a C.N.A, EMT, Phlebotomist, Athletic Trainer or other healthcare discipline that provides direct patient care.
  • Or a Certified MA from the National Health Career Association (NHA).
  • Or completed any MA education program but has not received certification as of yet.
  • Upon hire these disciplines will be assessed for clinical competency and be required to successfully complete an MA orientation | externship as well as complete any additional training as required by the Provider.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.
  • Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
  • BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the coordination and flow of patients throughout their visit to create an exceptional patient experience.
  • Proactively checks the provider’s schedule and reviews patient records to ensure all required information is available prior to their visit.
  • Proactively obtains any missing information from the patient to ensure medical records are accurate and up to date.
  • Captures patient’s vital signs, past medical, social and family history, medication usage and preferred pharmacy information upon arrival.
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements including HIPAA/OSHA compliance.
  • Responds to patient call backs and phone-in prescription refill requests.
  • Administers medication and injections, as directed by Physician/Provider.
  • Performs phlebotomy on patients, as directed by the Physician/ Provider.
  • Performs EKG’s, PFT’s spirometry, nebulizer treatments and ear irrigations, and other procedures, as required by the practice and directed by the Physician/Provider.
  • Performs in-office lab testing such as glucose testing, strep screens, pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and HgA1c as directed by the physician/provider.
  • Performs sterilization on instruments used for minor procedures/surgeries according to the CDC recommended guidelines.
  • Maintains all certifications/licensures as required by the scope of the role being performed.
