About The Position

GENESYS Health Alliance is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant/Medication Technician to support medical staff at Dorchester County Detention Center in Summerville, South Carolina. The role provides care and operational support in a correctional setting, serving an underserved patient population. The position is listed as PRN. Requirements

CNA or CMA credential and Medication Technician certification in good standing in South Carolina.
CPR certification.
Documented training for venipuncture when performing it.

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain operational records, reports, and logs; process reports and documents promptly.
File and scan records into the electronic medical record (EMR), and maintain and process faxed record requests.
Provide immediate and temporary interventions in emergency situations.
Perform clinic activities within the scope of certification, including taking vital signs, performing EKGs, checking weights, and providing other treatments.
Observe or examine inmates for symptoms that may require medical attention.
Complete clerical duties, including filing, scanning, ordering supplies, and restocking work areas.
Complete daily assigned workload or report uncompleted tasks to a supervisor.
Administer medications or treatments as directed.
Maintain confidentiality and privacy of patients and their health records.
Perform venipuncture for lab analysis when needed and with documented training.
Identify errors or potential error risks and report them to a supervisor.
Work cooperatively with correctional staff when medical needs conflict with facility correctional needs.
Assist with requested training and attend scheduled in-services, staff meetings, Infection Control meetings, and COI meetings.
Follow safety, accountability, and infection-control/prevention guidelines in the correctional environment.
Maintain current knowledge of GENESYS Health policies and procedures, applicable laws, certification guidelines, NCCHC standards, and site workflows.
Perform other duties within the scope of practice as assigned or requested by GENESYS Health corporate or a direct supervisor.
