About The Position

Dignity Health Medical Group (DHMG) is the employed physician group of Dignity Health Arizona, employing approximately 400 providers and 1200 support staff across a wide variety of specialties. DHMG has experienced significant growth and now offers over 73 subspecialty services. Physicians contribute to clinical services, academic roles, research, and leadership. DHMG is also dedicated to educating future healthcare providers, with 84 medical school students and approximately 200 residents and fellows in 25 academic programs. Research activities complement clinical services and medical education. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
  • 4+ years of Management experience
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
  • Required travel to Las Vegas, NV and Prescott, AZ

  • Master's degree in Health Information Management or related field
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for managing all health information management/medical record functions for selected outpatient areas.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations on a daily basis.
  • Provide ongoing consulting services to other hospital departments and clinics that maintain their own patient records.
  • Support Compliance by providing ongoing training, education, and consulting services in the area of patient privacy, in compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations.
  • Effectively manage comprehensive health information functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, providing expert consultation across departments, and championing patient privacy practices.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices and proactively apply that knowledge to the health information services function.
  • Direct all Health Information Management functions.
  • Establish policies, procedures, standards, and departmental objectives.
  • Prepare budget for department.
  • Maintain productivity requirements for HIM.
  • Direct hiring and evaluation of staff.
  • Provide direction to organization regarding documentation, record completion requirements, release of information, and record storage for regulatory requirements.
  • Provide input to the Clinical Documentation Improvement Program.
  • Serve as a resource for hospital staff, physicians, patients, and families regarding SJHMC change to Dignity Health Medical Group, BNI, NTI, and privacy policies and patient rights under HIPAA.
  • Participate in appropriate committees and task forces, including: Accreditation Committee, Forms Committee, HIS Task Force, Quality Council, Revenue Cycle Enhancement Committee, Faculty Practice Compliance Committee, and other ad hoc committees as assigned.
