Certified Long-term Special Education Substitute Teacher - $206 daily
About The Position
Kokua is seeking certified, long-term special education substitute teachers for the 2026-27 school year to support partner schools in the Nashville area. This role offers the opportunity to set your own schedule, earn up to $206 per day, and make a significant impact on students' lives by providing positive role modeling and sparking a love for learning. The position is paid via W-2, offers a consistent schedule in the same assignment, and provides a path to full-time roles in K-12 schools. Support is available daily from 6 am to 8 pm, along with free professional development.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of working with children in any setting (classroom, tutoring, coaching, etc.).
- An Associate’s degree or 60+ credit hours.
- Currently hold one of the following licenses: 460: SPED Modified K-12 (no longer an active credential, but is accepted), 145: SPED Interventionist 6-12, or 144: SPED Interventionist K-8.
- Feel confident managing a classroom of students.
- Willing to step in where needed (lunch/recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, proctoring).
- Willing to work at least 3 days/week.
- Pass state & federal background checks.
- Believe every child has a unique & powerful gift to share with the world.

- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but candidates will be considered based on relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Substitute teach in special education classrooms for long-term assignments.
- Manage a classroom of students.
