About The Position

This position is an in-person opportunity based in St Kitts at the Ross University Veterinary Clinic (RUVC), part of the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM). The Lead Certified Veterinary Technician will join a large team and will manage Certified/Licensed/Registered veterinary technicians/nurses, veterinary assistants, and support staff. The role is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the RUVC, maintaining high standards of patient care, customer service, and student experience. Responsibilities include clinical duties, teaching responsibilities, animal care, on-call duties, and administration. The position involves managing the team, ensuring AAHA accreditation standards, addressing training needs, identifying continuing education and career development opportunities, and managing performance reviews, scheduling, and time off. General maintenance and repair of the work area, and compliance with Health and Safety regulations are also expected. Managerial duties will be undertaken alongside clinical, teaching, animal care, and on-call duties.

Requirements

Associate degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field required.
Current Certified, Licensed, or Registered Veterinary Technician/Nurse credential required.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Certified Veterinary Technician/Nurse or equivalent required.
Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory, team lead, or leadership experience required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience using learning management and assessment platforms such as Canvas and ExamSoft.
Experience with veterinary practice management software, preferably ProVet Cloud.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Willingness to relocate to the Caribbean island of St Kitts for the duration of employment.

Responsibilities

Manage Certified/Licensed/Registered veterinary technicians/nurses, veterinary assistants, and support staff.
Ensure the smooth running of the RUVC, maintaining high standards of patient care, customer service, and student experience.
Oversee treatment room floor, labs, and offices.
Perform clinical duties, teaching responsibilities, animal care, on-call duties, and administration.
Maintain AAHA accreditation standards.
Address training needs of the team.
Ensure appropriate continuing education opportunities are identified and maintained.
Identify career development opportunities for the team.
Manage annual performance reviews for the team.
Organize work and vacation scheduling.
Manage time clock and keep track of compensatory time.
Ensure general maintenance and repair of the work area.
Work closely with the Health and Safety team to ensure compliance with all regulations.
Provide feedback and information for budget management, purchasing, and inventory support.
Responsible for special orders.
