About The Position

Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) is seeking a Certified Lead Veterinary Technician for the Ross University Veterinary Clinic (RUVC) within the Clinical Sciences Department. This in-person role is based in St. Kitts. The successful candidate will be part of a large team of veterinary technicians, assistants, and faculty, reporting to the RUVC Clinic Director and Head of Department. The primary responsibilities include ensuring the smooth operation of the RUVC, maintaining high standards of patient care, customer service, and student experience across treatment rooms, labs, and offices. The role involves clinical duties, clinical oversight and support of the technician team, supervision of veterinary assistants in training, and some teaching responsibilities. The position also includes on-call duties and input into operations management. Management responsibilities are shared with the Clinic Director and may be discussed based on the applicant's experience. The role requires ensuring general maintenance and repair of the work area and close collaboration with the Health and Safety team to ensure regulatory compliance. Managerial duties will be performed alongside clinical, teaching, animal care, and on-call duties.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field required.
  • Current Certified, Licensed, or Registered Veterinary Technician/Nurse credential required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Certified Veterinary Technician/Nurse, or equivalent, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory, team lead, or leadership experience required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervision, technician training and/or student support beneficial.
  • Experience using learning management and assessment platforms, such as Canvas and ExamSoft.
  • Experience with veterinary practice management software, preferably ProVet Cloud.

  • Ensuring the smooth running of the RUVC.

  • Providing clinical oversight and support to the technician team.

  • Maintaining AVMA and AAHA accreditation standards.
  • Addressing training requirements of the team.
  • Identifying career development opportunities for the team.
  • Managing annual performance reviews.
  • Scheduling and managing timecards.
  • Ensuring general maintenance and repair of the work area.
  • Working closely with the Health and Safety team to ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Providing input for budget management.
  • Providing oversight for facilities, IT, and equipment.
