Requirements

High School Graduate or equivalent
CLE certificate specialized in breast feeding required.
Experience using computers for consultation documentation.
Customer-centric verbal and writing skills

Nice To Haves

Spanish speaking preferred
One to two years previous experience in a hospital setting preferred

Responsibilities

Provide individualized education and support to breastfeeding mothers.
Promote breastfeeding and assist with facilitating change within clinical settings using evidence-based care management.
Educate mothers separated from their infants (e.g., premature infants) to initiate hand expression and pumping, collection, and storage of breastmilk within 6 hours after birth.
Refer WIC participant mothers to WIC and place referrals for mothers needing an electric breast pump for home use.
Accurately enter information and consults into the hospital Electronic Medical Record system.
Participate and facilitate breastfeeding support groups for inpatient newly delivered mothers.
Participate in Maternity Tours and events and be available to lead a discussion about skin-to-skin and breastfeeding.
Assist with collection of data.
Assist with follow-up post-discharge phone calls as needed.
Restock supplies as needed.
