This role is responsible for performing waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA. The individual must possess a degree of skill commensurate with their education, training, experience, and technical abilities. Responsibilities include adhering to laboratory procedures for specimen collection, processing, analysis, and reporting, as well as following quality control policies and procedures. The role requires identifying and resolving issues that may affect test performance, performing a wide variety of laboratory procedures using both manual and automated methods across multiple disciplines, and performing instrument maintenance. The Certified Lab Scientist II will review the accuracy of patient results, recognize age-specific differences in expected results, and ensure proficiency testing samples are handled correctly. Additionally, the role may involve venipuncture or capillary puncture, assisting in policy development, adhering to safety and hospital policies, and potentially acting as a Lead Tech in the absence of a supervisor. Responsibilities may also include LIS and/or POC tasks, and other duties assigned by management.
