About The Position

GFL Environmental is looking for Certified Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians to join their team in Coquitlam, BC. In this role, the technician will be responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of the fleet of trucks and heavy-duty equipment, ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready to serve the community each day.

Requirements

• Red Seal Certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic (required)
• Minimum 1 year of post-certification experience
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and follow repair manuals, work orders, and safety procedures
• Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs., kneel, crawl, and work in varied conditions (heat, cold, dust, noise, fumes)
• Commitment to safety and teamwork
• Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.

Nice To Haves

• More than 1 year of post-certification experience is an asset

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel, CNG, gas, and electric trucks, as well as related heavy-duty equipment
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and document findings
• Complete work orders, order parts, and track repairs in M5 planner
• Use power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and complete repairs
• Assist with reviewing mechanical write-ups and scheduling repairs
• Work both independently and as part of a supportive team of technicians
