About The Position

Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance and repair tasks, with primary responsibility for electrical repairs and work in the designated electrical trade. Assists other trades as needed, including carpentry, plumbing, and sign shop work. This position is Emergency Essential and may be required to work during emergency activation.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code.
  • Knowledge of repair methods and maintenance practices for structures, furnishings, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and work safety practices.
  • Skill in written and oral communications.
  • Ability to follow and relay oral and written instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems to perform repairs and maintenance in an assigned building trade.
  • Ability to prepare estimates of time, materials, and labor.
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications and operating manuals.
  • Ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to operate bucket truck and hydraulic lifts.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible experience in electrical trade.
  • Must have Journeyman's license.
  • Requires a valid Florida driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical repair and installations such as replacing switches and wiring and control work.
  • Design, layout, install, and maintain electrical services in City owned buildings and facilities.
  • Estimate materials, labor, and time needed for projects.
  • Operate light automotive equipment to travel to facilities throughout the city and to transport materials, furniture, and equipment.
  • Order materials and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain records and create reports.
  • Operate bucket truck.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
