About The Position

Virginia Western Community College, a two-year public institution, is seeking part-time Certified EKG Tech Instructors for its School of Career and Corporate Training department. The college serves over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 in workforce and continuing education. The instructor will teach students in classroom and lab settings to prepare them for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) credentialing exam. Classes are held on the main campus in Roanoke, VA, with potential for remote work. Primary scheduling includes weekday evenings and/or weekends. This is an adjunct faculty position appointed on an as-needed, course-by-course basis.

Requirements

  • Certified EKG Technician
  • Ability to teach students in both classroom and lab settings.
  • Knowledge and skills required to pass the credentialing exam for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
  • Ability to deliver established course curriculum.
  • Ability to set up labs.
  • Knowledge of lab safety.
  • Ability to monitor students.
  • Ability to facilitate knowledge transfer in support of certification preparation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot classroom technical issues.
  • Ability to track equipment usage and inventory.
  • Ability to assess students for content mastery and skills proficiency.
  • Ability to maintain student attendance and grades in accordance with established policies.
