Certified EEG Tech, Neurodiagnostic
About The Position
This role involves performing various neurodiagnostic tests, including Electroencephalograms (EEGs), ambulatory EEGs, Nerve Conduction Velocity testing, and Long-Term Monitoring in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. The technician will also assist with neurological Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM) as authorized. The primary function is to record the brain's electrical activity to aid in the study of epilepsy, convulsive disorders, and the localization of cerebral lesions. The position also includes assisting the Neurologist with maintaining the Neurodiagnostic Laboratory and identifying abnormal neurological disorders, while promoting professional and respectful interactions with patients and families.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
- 1 year of EEG Tech experience required
- BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
- One of the following is required: REEGT - Registered Electroencephalograph Tech, REPT - Registered Evoked Potential Technologist, or CNIM - Certified in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring
Nice To Haves
- Associate's Degree preferred
- Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP) Electroneurodiagnostic Technology (END) program preferred
Responsibilities
- Performs Electroencephalograms (EEGs), ambulatory EEGs, Nerve Conduction Velocity testing, Long-Term Monitoring (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) and, as authorized, neurological Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM).
- Records electrical activity of the patient's brain to study epilepsy, convulsive disorders and localizing lesions in the cerebrum.
- Assists Neurologist in maintaining Neurodiagnostic Laboratory and identifying abnormal neurological disorders.
- Promotes professional and respectful interactions with patients and/or families.
