About The Position

Apple Rehab Farmington Valley is a 130-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center located in Plainville, CT. The Dietary Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Dietary Department, including planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating programs and activities within budget and quality standards. This role ensures adherence to dietary policies and procedures, maintains compliance with state and federal regulations, and prepares for state surveys. The Dietary Manager will foster inter-departmental communication, develop the organizational structure and staffing, and exercise authority for personnel actions such as hiring, evaluations, and work assignments. They will also assist in conflict resolution, make recommendations for discipline, and participate in employee development and recommendations for promotions and transfers.

Requirements

  • Must hold one of the following: CDM Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Service Manager, certification for food service management and safety from a national certifying body, or an Associates Degree or higher in food service management or hospitality from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Must hold Serv Safe Manager certification
  • Ability to read, write and understand English, perform simple math calculations, measure and record data.
  • Attention to detail, good follow through skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to supervise and instruct others.
  • Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the Dietary Department, its programs and activities within approved budget and quality standards.
  • Ensures that all written dietary policies, procedures, and manuals are adhered to, maintained and updated.
  • Maintains compliance with state and federal regulations in preparation for state survey.
  • Prepares recommendations to the Administrator concerning department operations.
  • Fosters and maintains inter-departmental communication and cooperation to ensure that any reported concerns are addressed and corrected.
  • Develops the organizational structure, staffing and direction within policy and budgetary guidelines.
  • Responsibly exercises authority to take necessary personnel actions for department personnel including actions impacting employment such as hire, evaluations, work assignments and schedules.
  • Assists in departmental conflict resolution and makes recommendations for discipline.
  • Participates in continuing education and empowerment of employees as well as makes recommendations for promotion and transfers within branches of Apple Rehab.
