About The Position

A high-acuity cardiovascular surgical program in Savannah is seeking an experienced Certified CVOR Surgical Technologist (CVOR CST) to support open-heart and thoracic surgical procedures within a growing cardiovascular operating room environment. This role supports a dedicated cardiovascular surgery team performing a broad range of cardiac and thoracic procedures within one of the region's leading acute care and trauma centers. The ideal candidate has prior CVOR experience, strong sterile technique skills, and the ability to function effectively within a fast-paced cardiovascular surgical environment. The CVOR program features 2 dedicated Heart OR suites, handles approximately 1,000 cardiovascular surgical cases annually and growing, with a focus on cardiac and thoracic procedures (excluding transplant). The role reports directly to CVOR leadership within a high-acuity regional referral center environment and a collaborative cardiovascular surgery team structure.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential
  • Minimum 1–2 years of CVOR experience
  • Current BLS certification or obtained within 30 days of hire
  • Strong understanding of cardiovascular instrumentation and sterile surgical technique

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain sterile surgical environments for cardiovascular and thoracic procedures
  • Set up and manage surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for CVOR cases
  • Assist surgeons and perioperative teams during open-heart and cardiovascular procedures
  • Support patient positioning, transport, and intraoperative workflow needs
  • Perform surgical counts in collaboration with circulating nurses to ensure patient safety compliance
  • Clean, process, and prepare instrumentation for terminal sterilization
  • Maintain compliance with sterile technique, infection prevention standards, and surgical safety protocols
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and surgical services quality initiatives
