About The Position

Landwehr Construction, a turn-key site contractor established in 1895, is seeking a Certified Crane Operator. This role is a union position dispatched from the St. Cloud corporate office. The majority of the work is performed outdoors, and job site locations, as well as start and end times, will vary based on customer demand. This position also requires some overnight travel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • NCCCO Certification required.
  • Valid CDL License is required.
  • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Prolonged periods standing, crouching, bending, climbing, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, and pulling to perform job.
  • Ability to exert yourself physically on a continuous basis throughout entire shift.
  • Mental and physical dexterity to make quick, repeated movements and decisions.
  • Must be a team player and promote a collaborative work environment.
  • Thorough understanding of machines and tools being used.
  • Ability and willingness to wear all required personal protective equipment and place safety as the top priority.
  • Must also be able to give and take instructions both verbal and written, solve problems, and work well with others.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.

  • Rigger 1 certificate or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Class A driver's license and medical card may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate appropriate models of mobile, telescopic, truck mounted/boom truck, rough terrain, and crawler cranes.
  • Perform basic knowledge of rigging procedures to ensure safety during heavy lifts.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of crane functions and limitations, assembly, and disassembly procedures.
  • Observe load hookup to determine the safety of the load.
  • Utilize basic knowledge of hoisting attachments such as hooks, slings, electromagnets, and buckets to meet load requirements.
  • Perform daily maintenance of the crane and hoisting mechanism.
  • Inspect the crane for defective parts and notify the supervisor of defects or malfunctions.
  • Utilize computer technology to maximize productivity and safety.
  • Understand radio, verbal, and hand signals.
  • Climb and work at high elevations while maintaining all safety standards.
  • Apply knowledge of rigging, safety, crane capabilities and capacities, and general working knowledge of various job sites.
  • Maintain control of all functions such as hoist, 2-line, swing, and boom motions simultaneously while in close quarters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
