About The Position

The San Bernardino Superior Court is hiring Pro-Tempore Certified Court Reporters to join their team. This role offers flexible work opportunities countywide, allowing reporters to choose their schedules while contributing to the justice system. Candidates should possess real-time CSR certification and their own equipment. The court is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Requirements

Possession of a Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) certificate issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs Court Reporter Board.
Must own and maintain appropriate equipment for transcription proceedings.
Applicants must submit a copy of their current Certification by the California Department of Consumer Affairs Certified Shorthand Reporters Board with application.
All employees are fingerprinted and must pass a background check.
Information obtained will be evaluated for compatibility with Court employment.
Any false statement or omission of material fact may cause forfeiture to employment rights.
Information presented on employment application, resumes, and during the examination process is subject to verification.
Convictions depending upon the type, number and recency, may be disqualifying.

Responsibilities

Attend court sessions as assigned and make verbatim stenographic or voice written records of the proceedings using stenographic or voice writing equipment, computer aided transcription equipment and possibly real time software.
Provide immediate read back of all or portions of the record upon request.
Prepare printed or magnetic media transcripts of court proceedings.
Review, certify and file printed transcripts of court proceedings and provide daily transcripts as needed.
Receive and process transcript requests.
Estimate cost of transcripts.
Maintain a variety of paper and electronic files.
