About The Position

This role is for a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Floater in a Medical Specialty setting. The position involves a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to support patient care and office operations. The ideal candidate will be skilled in customer service, organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. The role requires the ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Medical Assistant Training (CCMA)
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Certification
  • Knowledgeable of EMR.
  • Knowledge of nursing principles and protocols and all aspects of medication names and prescribing.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality as directed by HIPAA standards.
  • Knowledge of medical chart reporting and records.
  • Skilled in customer service and have a pleasant and courteous demeanor while dealing with all patients and callers.
  • Well organized and detail organized and be able to work independently without much supervision.
  • Skills in critical thinking, communication, influence and decision making.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a member of office staff and team.
  • Able to respond to stressful or emergency situations in a calm and effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Patient triage including weight, blood pressure, temperature readings, updating medication lists, and documenting chief complaints.
  • Manage electronic patient prescription services, including communication with pharmacies and verification of all medical prescriptions.
  • Perform phlebotomy and EKG's.
  • Answer telephone, screen calls, retrieve voicemails, and return patient calls.
  • Handle pre-certification requirements for all procedures.
  • Contact patients regarding lab results.
  • Maintain daily logs.
  • Answer questions regarding patient appointments and testing.
  • Communicate with patients regarding patient information and education about procedure preps.
  • Schedule procedures, medical tests, and referral appointments, coordinating and rescheduling as necessary.
  • Schedule appointments, verifying demographics and insurance information in the patient medical record or file.
  • Assist other staff as directed.
  • Perform other job functions as directed.
  • Greet and register patients in a prompt, pleasant, and courteous manner.
  • Maintain and update current information on appointment schedules, ensuring proper scheduling and confirming appointments, posting all cancelled, rescheduled, or no-show appointments.
  • Collect all co-pays and small balances and balance the drawer daily.
  • Perform Pulmonary Function testing.
  • Attend meetings as required.
