About The Position

CLFC Healthcare and Communications is seeking certified American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters to join its Maryland roster for assignments with government agencies statewide. These assignments will be delivered in person and via video, focusing on community and government interpreting. Tasks include interpreting in public meetings, testimony, resident appointments, employee meetings, trainings, and formal proceedings like administrative hearings and investigatory interviews. Many assignments are video-based, while others are on-site at agency locations. Long, technical, or high-stakes assignments will be handled by teams of two interpreters. This role is ideal for an established interpreter in Maryland or the Washington D.C. area seeking well-compensated government work with the flexibility to choose assignments. Interpreters can opt for on-site, video, or both types of assignments. This is contract work on a per-assignment basis, not a salaried position.

  • Compliance with Maryland's sign language interpreter licensing requirement when it takes effect on January 1, 2028.

  • Work in a team of two on long, technical or high-stakes assignments.
  • Stay neutral and accurate in every setting, keep everything learned on an assignment confidential, and handle preparation materials securely.
