About The Position

The Certified and Registered Nursing Assistant provides each resident with routine daily nursing care in accordance with the resident's assessments, choices and care plan under the supervision of a licensed nurse to ensure that the highest degree of quality of care is maintained at all times. The N.A.R. must be currently registered and in good standing with the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry, passed all background checks and must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Must also have the ability to create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the facility, must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position relating to and working with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people within the facility.

Requirements

  • Must be currently registered and in good standing with the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry.
  • Must have passed all background checks.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Ability to create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
  • Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position relating to and working with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people within the facility.
  • Will be required to attend all educational meetings provided and complete all mandatory in-services in a timely fashion (on or before deadlines).
  • Training will be provided for any new procedures or policies that are adopted, including the use of the computers and software that the New Richland Care Center uses for resident record keeping.
  • As required by the state of Minnesota, to maintain 12 hours of in-service yearly, in order to keep your certification for nursing assistant updated.

Responsibilities

  • Follows Resident’s Care Plans.
  • Prepares residents for visits by physician, family and other visitors.
  • Bathes and dresses resident as needed: sees that the residents are properly and comfortably clothed, combs hair, shaves residents, trims nails and assists with personal and dental hygiene.
  • Assists with end of life and postmortem care as needed.
  • Observes and reports any changes in skin condition (dryness, skin tears, redness, open areas, etc.)
  • Answers Call Lights.
  • Positions for comfort in bed and chairs, transporting resident into and out of beds, chairs, bathroom, wheelchair, lifts, etc.
  • Assists with lifting, turning, moving.
  • Carries out restorative and rehabilitative programs as ordered.
  • Instruct residents in self-help, use of medical appliances, etc.
  • Assists resident to and from bathroom.
  • Uses appropriate incontinence product for each resident as specified in the care plan.
  • Provides perineal care as required.
  • Monitors and documents output as requested/instructed.
  • Takes and records TPR and BP as assigned.
  • Weighs resident weekly and as requested and record.
  • N.A.R. will be trained on the use of all equipment.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
