About The Position

Community Bridges, Inc. (CBI) is an integrated behavioral healthcare organization offering a full continuum of care, including a variety of programs throughout Arizona, Oklahoma, and the District of Columbia. Founded in 1982 as a non-profit organization by members of the recovery community in Mesa, Arizona, Community Bridges Inc. has held as its principle mission “maintaining the dignity of human life” for more than 40 years. The District of Columbia Stabilization Center (DCSC), operated by Community Bridges, Inc. (CBI), will offer immediate, 24 hours/day, 365 days/year, no cost, low barrier access to Crisis SUD services for individuals 18 years of age and older, regardless of gender, insurance, and citizenship status. The DCSC will provide individuals experiencing an SUD crisis with person-centered and a recovery-oriented alternative to unnecessary encounters at emergency departments or interactions with law enforcement. The DCSC will ensure those individuals seeking or referred for services will receive an integrated and comprehensive care to address their specific needs in a supportive clinical and recovery-oriented environment. CBI will hire pursuant to the DC EEO provisions.

Requirements

  • Must possess an Associate degree, from an accredited school in a health or human services field, including but not limited to a degree in nursing, aging studies, criminal justice, health education, or mental health.
  • Minimum of six months of recovery from substance use and/or mental health disorders required.
  • Must have 2-3 years of experience providing substance use services in a healthcare setting.
  • Valid identification required.
  • Must possess a valid CAC I or CAC II certification from the D. C. Department of Health or from another, endorsed U.S. Jurisdiction.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Electronic Medical Record experience preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counseling services to patients with substance abuse addiction problems within the scope of their certification.
  • Assess and analyze emotional conditions, explore possible solutions, and work within a treatment plan for mental and emotional adjustment or development.
  • Teach clients the skills and mechanics to cope with addiction.
  • Provide treatment to people with mental, emotional, or substance use disorders.
  • Complete duties consistent with their respective licensure bodies and agency certifications.
