About The Position

The Boeing Commercial Airplanes Flight Control and Mechanical Hydraulic Systems organization is seeking a Certification Manager (Level K) to join the team in Everett, WA. This role requires technical acumen, knowledge of certification processes, and strong leadership skills to lead resolution of technical issues, prioritize work to meet program needs, and manage Engineering Unit Member (E-UM) work statement within the Flight Control and Mechanical Hydraulic Systems team. Certification managers collaborate with Safety and Airworthiness (SAW) managers and the ODA to streamline certification processes, maintain robust capability and capacity, and strengthen applicant knowledge and maturity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
  • At least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership"
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee certification technical decision making and engineering quality
  • Coordinate with other organizations including Avionics, Crew Ops, Airplane Safety, Aerodynamics, and Systems Stress related to certification technical matters
  • Manage, mentor and develop E-UMs and E-UMits
  • Manage E-UM project engagement and monitor/maintain utilization of E-UMs and compliance finders and Subject Matter Experts
  • Oversee E-UM and Non-Boeing Engineering-Unit Member (NB E-UM) development, including cultivating a pipeline to maintain a sufficient number of appropriately-delegated E-UMs
  • Lead development and maintenance of standard means of compliance
  • Support the Applicant to improve compliance showing capability
  • Support the E-UM Administrator to resolve issues and ensure E-UMs can perform their work statements independently and free from interference
