Requirements

  • Trade qualification or post‑secondary diploma/degree in a related discipline (e.g., mechanical, electrical, controls or similar).
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical and/or electrical construction.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, principles and construction practices.
  • Experience reviewing and validating trade contractor progress billings.
  • Ability to facilitate coordination of mechanical, electrical, architectural, civil, and structural drawings and specifications.
  • Solid working knowledge of applicable building codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of various contract delivery methods and associated obligations.
  • Proven ability to manage contractual responsibilities related to building systems.
  • Builds strong working relationships through clear, professional communication with internal teams, consultants and trade partners.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews building systems trade progress to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, quality standards, schedule and constructability requirements; identifies and communicates risks and opportunities to the project team.
  • Processes critical building systems submittments, coordination documents and reports in alignment with project requirements.
  • Leads and coordinates the drawing and model coordination process, providing direction as required to support successful execution.
  • Reviews and interprets prime contract and building systems subcontract requirements; proactively identifies risks and opportunities and ensures effective contract administration of trade contractors.
  • Reviews, negotiates and processes building systems change notices and change orders, assessing impacts to project budget, scope and schedule.
  • Supports and provides direction to project teams, consultants and trade contractors throughout the design process.
  • Monitors building systems trade activities and enforces compliance with quality management programs.
  • Leads the building systems commissioning process and is accountable for overall planning, execution, and closeout.
