About The Position

Performs dynamic and static tests in accordance with government regulations, regulatory body specifications, and manufacturing requirements. Dynamic tests are performed using free falling impact probes, accelerometers, load cells, displacement transducers, and PC based data acquisition systems. Repairs electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical equipment for conformance to established standards, and assists in formulating testing and work standards.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to perform dynamic and static tests using free falling impact probes, accelerometers, load cells, displacement transducers, and PC based data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to repair electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical equipment.
  • Ability to measure parts for conformity with specifications.
  • Ability to align, repair, replace, and balance component parts.
  • Ability to reassemble and certify instruments and equipment.
  • Ability to assist engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with crash test dummies
  • Experience with ATDs (Anthropomorphic Test Devices)
  • Participation in a Company’s internal audit system as an internal auditor.

Responsibilities

  • Plans sequence of testing and certification procedures for instruments (crash test dummies) and equipment.
  • Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and certify other instruments and test equipment.
  • Input data information and utilize data acquisition systems to perform system checks and data collection for ATDs.
  • Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.
  • Measures parts for conformity with specifications.
  • Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts.
  • Reassembles and certifies instruments and equipment.
  • Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.
  • May be required to participate in a Company’s internal audit system as an internal auditor.
  • Other duties as assigned
