Celestica International LP•Plano, TX
•$102,000 - $135,000•Remote

About The Position

Celestica is seeking a highly collaborative, action-oriented Senior Certification & Compliance Engineer to support the development of modular data centers and power systems. The engineer will work directly with product development teams from the beginning of the design process, helping ensure that prefabricated, containerized E-houses, power skids, and modular systems meet relevant global regulatory frameworks and site-specific deployment codes. The role connects factory product certifications with field compliance to support timely deployment and permitting. The position includes guiding product architecture and design choices, managing product certification strategies and relationships with testing laboratories, and planning physical testing campaigns. The engineer will also provide expertise on electrical safety and design codes, manage industrialized building program requirements, prepare technical compliance documentation, and coordinate with manufacturing on factory compliance testing. The role is remote with travel as necessary, including travel between customer and Celestica locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 6 years of direct experience in regulatory compliance, standards engineering, or design-focused product safety roles.
  • Proven experience certifying industrial power equipment, modular enclosures, grid-tied battery systems, or complex data center utility skids.
  • Experience guiding a product through an initial NRTL listing campaign, such as UL or Intertek, from architecture kickoff through certificate issuance.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70), IBC structural and seismic constraints, OSHA regulations, and UL product listings.
  • Experience with safety design techniques such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Hazard Identification (HAZID) studies.
  • Ability to travel as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Active participation in professional standards technical committees, such as IEEE, UL, or NFPA.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with electrical, mechanical, and controls design engineers to guide physical layouts, spacing, component selection, and structural boundaries.
  • Review third-party components, including switchgear, inverters, batteries, and breakers, to verify appropriate listings and ratings for target operating limits.
  • Ensure packaging designs meet workspace clearance, egress pathway, and safety boundary requirements under applicable codes and regulations.
  • Define, coordinate, and execute the global product certification strategy for the product portfolio.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs), including UL, Intertek (ETL), and CSA.
  • Structure and oversee physical testing programs, including dielectric, short-circuit, thermal runaway, and environmental ingress testing.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on applicable electrical safety and design codes and UL standards.
  • Manage requirements for state-level industrialized building programs and coordinate with third-party inspection agencies for prefabricated structures.
  • Author and compile technical construction files, listing documentation, safety labels, and installation and operating manuals.
  • Maintain compliance traceability matrices showing how design elements meet applicable standards clauses.
  • Work with manufacturing teams to establish routine factory compliance tests on assembly floors.
