About The Position

Daily and long-term Certificated substitutes are needed for TK-12 and in Special Education for the 2026/2027 School Year. Substitute Teachers must work at least one assignment every 90 days to stay active. Failure to do so will result in removal from the substitute pool. CUSD aspires for our staff to reflect the rich diversity of our students as well.

Requirements

  • Must provide a copy of your current California Teaching Credential, with teaching experience. (Full teaching credentials only; 30-DAY teaching permits are NOT accepted).
  • Resume including recent teaching experience and classroom management.
  • Two 'SIGNED' Letters of Recommendation pertaining to your 'teaching background' and 'classroom experience' (preferable within the last 12-24 months). Each LOR must include the person's contact information.
  • Must have Fingerprints on file for employment purposes through the San Diego County Office of Education's Fingerprint Clearinghouse database. If fingerprints are older than or nearly 10 years old, they must be redone.
  • Complete the application in full, including all sections and 'Work Experience' (resumes will not substitute).
  • Disclose a complete list of all past and current PUBLIC EDUCATION (teaching) employment (full-time, part-time, and substitute), including HR department information from that workplace, as per Ed Code 44939.5 (AB 2534). Failure to provide this will result in disqualification.
  • Current TB Test (no older than 4 years) will be collected later (Risk assessments are not accepted).

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily and long-term substitute teaching duties in TK-12 and Special Education.
  • Maintain active status in the substitute pool by working at least one assignment every 90 days.
