About The Position

This position is for a Certificated Substitute Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, covering Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade. The role is on an as-needed basis within District Schools. To be considered, applicants must be an active substitute with the Kern County Superintendent. Pay rates are $215 for a full day, $107.50 for a half day, and $250.00 for long-term assignments (starting on the 16th day) for credentialed teachers or those with an Emergency 30-Day Substitute permit (BA).

Requirements

• Active substitute with the Kern County Superintendent.
• Substitute Permit from KCSOS or TCC.
• Form titled "Information Necessary for Sub Teaching" completed by KCSOS.
• Transcripts showing Bachelor of Arts (BA).
• Resume.
• Certification of Completion for Mandated Reporting (CANRA).
• Certification of Completion for Sexual Harassment Prevention Training.
• Certification of Completion for Heat Illness Prevention Training.
• Two letters of recommendation.
• Physical Form.
• TB Results Form (not more than 60 days old on Dr.'s letterhead with signature and license #).
• DOJ Fingerprint Clearance from KCSOS.
• Receipt for 30-day Emergency Permit w/TCC (for those with a BA).
• For Emergency Credential for Prospective Teachers: Completed 90 semester or 135 quarter units & currently enrolled in a 4-year university.

Responsibilities

• Substitute teach TK-8th grade students as needed.
