About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant is a paraprofessional member of the Hospice team who works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient’s personal needs and promote comfort. Responsible for observing patients, reporting these observations and documenting observations as well as the care performed. Is assigned in a manner which promotes quality, continuity and safety of a patient’s care. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients/significant others and all health care team members.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent with GED
  • Completed a State approved Certified Nursing Assistant Program
  • Current on the State Registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Current on the State Registry as a Home Health Aide within 30 days of employment
  • Licensed driver with an automobile in good working order
  • Vehicle insured in accordance with agency requirements
  • Current CPR certification
  • Successfully complete skills competency upon hire
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to lift 50 pounds, 100 pounds with assist
  • Will NOT function in any manner viewed as the practice of nursing according to the Nurse Practice Act
  • Will NOT administer medications
  • Will NOT take physician orders
  • Will NOT perform any procedure requiring the training, knowledge and skill of a nurse
  • Will NOT transport patients for any reason, in any vehicle

Nice To Haves

  • One year minimum of experience working in the patient care setting, preferably as a patient care provider
