About The Position

WVP Health Authority is a longstanding independent practice association (IPA) serving approximately 450 primary care and specialty providers, helping them remain viable, competitive, and focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. WVP’s mission is to empower the local healthcare ecosystem, fostering a resilient community with programs designed to improve access, health outcomes, and long-term patient success. In service of this mission, they provide a range of shared services and infrastructure, including payer contracting, advocacy, credentialing, clinical support services (such as pharmacy, behavioral health, and care coordination), community programs, and health information technology solutions. This role represents a unique opportunity to make a difference by driving meaningful, measurable progress while operating at the intersection of healthcare delivery, business strategy, and community impact. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), reporting directly to the Board of Directors, will lead the organization through its next phase of evolution, advancing a physician-powered movement that preserves the independence of community-based care and improves health outcomes across the region. This leader will work in partnership with the Board to define and execute a clear and sustainable path forward for the organization—aligning strategy, capabilities, and culture to deliver meaningful and measurable impact—while fostering a cohesive, engaged, and high-performing internal team. The CEO will build strong, trust-based relationships with health plans, hospitals, community organizations, and public sector partners across the region. They will actively engage local stakeholders to strengthen collaboration, align priorities, and advance shared solutions that support independent practices.

Requirements

  • Proven executive leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to lead an organization or business unit through complexity, change, and evolving market conditions.
  • Strong business acumen, including experience overseeing financial performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to set direction, make decisions, and translate priorities into execution across an organization.
  • Track record of building high-performing teams.
  • Experience serving as an external representative of an organization, building credibility and relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and a values-driven leadership approach.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare or a related sector.
  • Familiarity with payer contracting, provider networks, or value-based care models.
  • Experience working with or supporting independent or community-based organizations.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or a related field preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Board of Directors to define and advance a clear, forward-looking direction that ensures the organization’s long-term relevance and sustainability.
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable plans, aligning leadership, resources, and capabilities to support execution.
  • Strengthen and evolve WVP’s core service offerings to ensure continued value to member practices.
  • Identify and advance opportunities to expand services, partnerships, and programs that support growth and diversification.
  • Lead a High-Performing Organization: Establish a cohesive, aligned, and high-functioning organization characterized by clear expectations and consistent leadership practices.
  • Build and sustain a leadership team that is accountable, empowered, and effective in leading their respective functions.
  • Implement clear and transparent communication practices that support alignment across departments and levels of the organization.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, professionalism, and a shared commitment to WVP’s mission and values.
  • Serve as the primary external representative and face of the organization, building credibility and visibility across the regional healthcare landscape.
  • Champion and advance the role of independent medical practices, fostering a cohesive and engaged provider community aligned around shared opportunities and challenges.
  • Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with health plans, hospitals, community organizations, and key stakeholders.
  • Strengthen engagement with member practices, ensuring they experience clear value and remain active participants in the organization.
  • Position WVP as a strong advocate for independent, community-based care, effectively representing and advocating for independent practices in payer, policy, and community settings.
  • Expand strategic partnerships that enhance WVP’s capabilities, reach, and impact.
  • Increase awareness of WVP’s services and value proposition within the provider community and broader market.
